Amazon River: The Situation
In 2030, half of the amazon rainforest will be destroyed.
The terrible drought crisis in 2005 killed millions of fish, branches of the river drained and the amazon rainforest suffered devastating forest fires. This scenario could become daily routine because of the rising demand of lumber and meat and the rising deforestation.
Deforestation involves the risk that the rainforest dries out. The more trees are cut down, the more sun and wind can drain the rainforest. It's a vicious circle: the number of forest fires is increased by periods of draught and deforestation. The smoke prevents clouds to emerge. There's no rain - forest fires can arise.
